Hi there,

Just (re)installed slimbookos-24-108 on my executive (es keyboard) with encryption enabled. Issue is, on boot the keyboard layout is en_US so I have to enter special characters by finding the equivalent en_US position.

I've tried to update grub, initramfs, with the keyboard configured at /etc/default (XKBLAYOUT="es"), etc.

(Also tangentially, Ubuntu does a graphical decryption screen, while on the executive shows a small, almost unreadable console window).

Nope, looks like it doesn't work. Tried that, also KEYMAP=y though the setting is already set by /usr/share/initramfs-tools/conf.hook.d/cryptsetup.

Looks like it's grub2 that does the pass-asking and decryption. This is a fully encrypted disk (including boot & initramfs).

There looks to be a way for grub2 to set a keymap on load: https://askubuntu.com/questions/751259/how-to-change-grub-command-line-grub-shell-keyboard-layout

That said, maybe Calamares should take that into account when installing?

Regards,

Good morning,

Try changing the language setting within the initramfs-tools path.

sudo nano /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf

KEYMAP=es

Save and Exit

sudo update-initramfs -u

If you want the decryption prompt to appear with graphics, you'll need to separate /boot from the encrypted volume.

Best regards,
