Excalibur and Docking 2GEN HUB

Hi,

I'm facing issues with the docking 2gen connected to my excalibur laptop.

First is that it's not charging when the usb-c charger is connected to the docking. From what I read, it's because the docking only delivers 85W and the laptop requires 100W. So the solution is to connect the charger to the laptop, not the docking, right?

Second, when the HDMI cable is connected to the docking and the laptop turns into sleep mode, the laptop's screen is illuminated. Black but illuminated. I've tried Arch and Ubuntu 25.10. Behavior is the same. Do you have any idea how to solve this?

My solution is to connect the HDMI cable directly to the laptop… But in the end, there is no more use of my docking 🫤

Regards,

François

Hi Ousama,

Thank you again for your support. I tested SlimbookOS r101 on a live USB with both Gnome and KDE. It's still the same 🙁

I'm opening a ticket following your recommendation.

Dear Sfanx,

please do open a ticket by filling this form:

In the meantime, can you try using Slimbook 24.04 with a live USB and reproduce the issue?

Thank you Antonio for caring.

I started the session in X11 using the wheel at the bottom right of the screen on the logging page. Checked that I'm using X11:

$ echo "$XDG_SESSION_TYPE"
x11

However, after going into sleep mode, laptop's screen is still illuminated.

I will try to find another monitor to test if the behavior could be linked to a specific monitor.

Prueba iniciar sesión con X11 y ver si el comportamiento cambia.

Hi Ousama,

Unless I misunderstood what you suggested, I updated the firmware with the latest available version.

"I did a bios update as mentioned. But the issue is still present."

Hi,

thank you for the replies.

The external screen is actually working fine. I have no issue with it. The behavior issue is when following conditions are met: 1. the display is connected to the hub and 2. the laptop goes into sleep mode. While the laptop is in sleep mode, the laptop's screen remains illuminated.

If the external display is directly connected to the HDMI port of the laptop and the laptop goes into sleep mode, then everything is fine. Laptop's screen is not illuminated.

This is problematic for me because it drains the battery, it lightens the room and it adds use time to the screen which may affect its durability.

I did a bios update as mentioned. But the issue is still present.

Hola,

Does the external display only fail when the laptop goes to sleep or does it sometimes work with the dock?

Saludos!
