Creative Energy Button led color, USB-C charge requirments

Avatar

Hello, the energy profile button on the slimbook creative (the one next to the power button) always has the led on white. It seems it could have the led green or red depending on the power profile.

Does anyone know if this is possible in Linux? Using slimbook OS 24 as installed by slimbook.

Also, does anyone know what power I would need to use to charge the laptop via USB-C: is a 100W brick enough? 140W, 240W ??

Thanks, Rui

P.S. I understand Spanish fine, but I will spare you my Portuñol. Feel free to answer in which language you prefer.

Good morning,
Apologies for the misunderstanding, what I referred as balanced mode is dynamic mode, this reduces the TDP depending on the current charge of the battery itself (you can read more in the work profiles section of the creative init guide)

The laptop usually needs 240W. However if there's no much activity from the laptop, it could charge (slowly), if the laptop draws more power than 100W, then it'll be degrading the battery with the constant charge and discharge.

It is recommended that if you need to use USB-C, to charge it only when the laptop is powered off

Regards,

Thank you for the answers Samanta.

I would disagree that this is a feature, since its on battery power that the indication of the energy saving mode is most important, not when connected to AC. But thanks for the explanation.

as for the PD, my question is, just to be sure, If i get a 100W USB-C charger, will it charge the laptop? I want to have a single charger for all my devices for travel, but need to be sure what do I need to charge the creative before purchasing.

Thanks, Rui

Good morning,
The LED on the performance modes button while on battery mode being white is a feature, as that's the balanced mode. It goes to manual mode (so adjusting between green, blue and purple) only while AC is connected.

As for the USB-C power, Power Delivery only goes up to 100W
